Air Vice-Marshal Ehsanul Gani Chowdhury has been appointed as the chairman of Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (Caab).
He is set to take the charge of the civil aviation regulatory body from Sunday.
Following UK's ban on air cargo directly from Dhaka on March 8, the government initiated the move.
The British government imposed a ban on air cargo directly from Dhaka as Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport failed to meet some international security requirements.
Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon said that measures have been taken to strengthen security at the airport.
While talking to reporters at the ministry on Sunday, the minister said international standard scanners and close circuit cameras were installed at the airport as a part of the measure.
He also said security messages were announced through loud speakers on a regular basis.
Rashed Khan informed security experts from the UK are providing training to the officials at the airport.
