The government has reconstituted the board of directors of Biman Bangladesh Airlines appointing former chief of air staff Air Marshal Muhammad Enamul Bari as its new chairman.
Besides, there were also changes in other directors of the board, according to a government circular issued in this regard on Tuesday.
Although there were 11 board members earlier, the newly constituted board has 13 members.
They are: formber education secretary Nazrul Islam Khan (N I Khan), former additional secretary Tapos Kumar Roy, Supreme Court lawyer barrister Tanjibul Alam, BGMEA president Siddiqur Rahman and managing director of Emerging Resources Limited Noor-e-Khuda Abdul Mobin.
Besides, senior secretary of the Finance Division, secretary of the Prime Minister's Office, civil aviation and tourism secretary, assistant chief of air force, engineer in chief of army, civil aviation chairman, managing director and CEO of Biman Bangladesh Airlines will be the members of the board.
Outgoing chairman of the national flag carrier was Air Marshal Jamal Uddin Ahmed, also former air chief.
Born in a noble Muslim family of Dhaka in 1960, Air Marshal Muhammad Enamul Bari joined Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) on 19 September 1978 as a flight cadet and was commissioned in General Duties (Pilot) Branch on 01 February 1981.
Muhammad Enamul Bari served as chief of air staff of Bangladesh Air Force for the three years from June 12, 2012 to June 12, 2015.
