It is very saddening to learn that migrant workers who struggle for their own lives as well as to keep the country’s economy vibrant by sending their hard earned remittance get little access to justice in Bangladesh and abroad.
For this situation, the concerned officials blame lack of awareness and implementation of the relevant laws.
Besides, involvements of brokers in the recruitment process along with absence of bilateral agreements with the destination countries are also blamed.
The culture of impunity for migrant workers is seen at home and destination countries and that is never accepted for the rising sons of the country.
Our demand is that the government must take protection measures to ensure justice to the migrant workers. They should have access to complaints to enable them access to justice.
Consideration for migrants’ family members must be taken into account in this regard.
