More than 73,000 Bangladeshi female migrant workers have gone abroad with jobs from January to July during the current year, according to Bureau of Manpower, Employment and Training.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has recruited the highest number of nearly 49,100 Bangladeshi female workers mainly the housemaids.
Jordan became the second largest destination of Bangladeshi female workers recruiting over 12,000 garment workers and housemaids.
Oman recruited over 5,000 female workers from Bangladesh, according to BMET statistics.
United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Lebanon, Kuwait and Mauritius also recruited substantial number of Bangladeshi female workers.
BMET director general Salim Reza said that the government was committed to reduce the problems faced by the Bangladeshi female workers abroad.
‘We will send more female workers abroad by providing them proper training at home,’ he said.
