Bangladesh to open seven new missions abroad

Bangladesh government has endorsed a proposal to open seven new Bangladesh missions abroad to extend consular services to the Bangladeshi migrant workers living in those countries.

Seven new Bangladesh missions would be established in Kabul in Afghanistan, Khartoum in Sudan, Freetown in Sierra Leone, Bucharest in Hungary, Chennai in India, Sydney in Australia and Toronto in Canada, cabinet secretary Mohammad Shafiul Alam told a press briefing after the meeting.

The foreign affairs ministry placed the proposal in the weekly cabinet, which was chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at the secretariat on Monday.
