THE Sabah Immigration Department said it has detected the use of “blank passports” by illegal immigrants, issued by their respective embassies or consulates, but their movements in and out of the country are not recorded.
Its director, Musa Sulaiman, said although such cases were not considered serious, the department did not take the matter lightly.
"There are people employing foreign workers who hold such passports, which are issued by embassies or consulates, but these workers entered the country illegally.
“The department does not condone the violation of legal procedures or practices, which disrupts national sovereignty. This includes the use of blank passports," he said during a dialogue between the department, Eastern Sabah Security Command and Tawau Chinese Association in Tawau.
Musa stressed that only those with valid documents from Malaysian authorities could stay and seek employment in the state. – Bernama, November 4, 2017.
