Expatriates Welfare and Overseas Employment minister Nurul Islam on Sunday asked the labour welfare officials to explore the new labour markets for Bangladeshi workers at overseas detinations.
He also asked them to play proactive role at the destination countries for looking for employment for more skilled workers abroad so that they could earn more remittances.
While inaugurating five day labour attaché conference in the city’s CIRDAP auditorium, the minister the labour attachés should play their due roles in ensuring welfare to one crore migrant workers and more five crore of their family members who were directly involved with their activities.
Presiding over the inaugural session, EWOE Ministry’s secretary in charge Namita Halder said that the labour attaches would have to concentrate in exploring news labour markets as the traditional labour market were getting shrinking day by day for Bangladeshis,
Bureau of Manpower, Employment and Training director general Salim Reza, Bangladesh Overseas Employment service Limited managing director Maran Kumar Chakraborty and additional secretary of the EWOE ministry Aminul Islam among other were present.
The officials said that during the five day conference, 44 labour attaches posted at Bangladesh missions in 28 countries were getting fresh reorientation about the government’s priorities related to workers’ migration and welfare issues.
