Bangladesh Joins Fashion World Tokyo-2018

Bangladesh is actively participating in the Fashion World Tokyo-2018 which started on Wednesday  and will continue up to 6 April 2018.

Forty-four business including Knitwear and Leather enterprises of Bangladesh joined this International Fair. Rabab Fatima, The Ambassador of Bangladesh to Japan, inaugurate the pavilions of Bangladesh this morning. She visited the Bangladeshi arcades at the fair, according to press release of Bangladesh embassy.

The Bangladeshi companies brought their quality and latest products at the exhibition center of Tokyo Big Sight. The Ministry of Commerce and the Export Promotion Bureau of Bangladesh are administering the entrepreneurs in this event. Participating business entities hoped that this event could be the platform to introduce and exchange views with the Japanese investors. They also expected to draw attention of Japanese business as much as they can.

Besides the exposition, a seminar was organized this morning at the venue jointly by the Embassy of Bangladesh, Japan; Ministry of Commerce and Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA). The seminar was supported by the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO)-ITPO Tokyo, Japan & Tokyo Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI &TCCI), Japan-Bangladesh Committee for Commercial and Economic Co-operation (JBCCEC) and Japan Textile Importers Association (JTIA). More than a hundred representatives of Japanese business organizations joined the seminar.

Ambassador Rabab Fatima delivered the welcome speech at the seminar. She said that the exhibition was important for the expanding the market of quality goods of Bangladesh. The Fashion World Tokyo – 2018 would strengthen the business relation between Japan and Bangladesh, she added. 

Later, a paper was presented by BKMEA on the “Current status of Knitwear Industry in Bangladesh and future potentials”. Moreover power-point presentations were made by Takashi Sujuki, Senior Director of JETRO and Masahiro Hiraishi, President of Maruhisa Co. Ltd on the strengths and prospects of business in Bangladesh. The speakers discussed about the prevailing congenial environment of Business in Bangladesh and praised the government of Bangladesh for the initiatives they taken to ease the business and investment. They welcomed more investment from Japan.

Many visitors started visiting the pavilions of Bangladesh since the beginning.
