Bangladesh High Commission in Male on Thursday requested the undocumented migrant workers to get legalized as the Maldives government relaxed conditions of legalizing process for the undocumented expatriate workers.
Bangladesh mission in a press release said that the workers who ran away from workplaces without informing sponsors or companies should contact Maldives immigration or the authorities concerned for getting them legalized.
The workers would not require depositing some 6.000 Maldivian Rupees for legalizing their status, according to press released issued by Bangladesh mission.
According to statistics at the Bureau of Manpower, Employment and Training, 9224 Bangladeshi workers have migrated to Maldives with jobs.
BMET officials, however, said that there were huge number of Bangladeshi workers were jobless and also undocumented in Maldives.
