195 Stranded Bangladeshis Being Repatriated from Canada

At least 195 Bangladeshis who were stranded in Canada due to corona pandemic were being repatriated by special flight, said officials.

A flight of Qatar Airways boarding 195 Bangladeshis, mostly students, have already started for Dhaka on Wednesday morning, according to Bangladesh High Commission in Canada.

The flight is scheduled to reach Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Thursday morning after having a stopover in Doha, said the press release.

Bangladesh High Commissioner to Canada Mizanur Rahman saw off the Bangladeshis at Toronto airport.

He informed that they had arranged the special flight as a part of the government’s ongoing repatriation of the stranded Bangladeshis from abroad due to COVID-19.

The Bangladeshi passengers have expressed their satisfaction over the government’s move for enabling them to enjoy Eid with their family members.

Bangladesh Consul General Nayeem Uddin Ahmed, among others, was present.
