Bangladesh High Commission in Canberra celebrated 71st birth anniversary of Sheikh Kamal, valiant freedom fighter and the eldest son of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on Wednesday, 05 August 2020 at the High Commission premises.
A morning programme was organized to commemorate the life and works of Sheikh Kamal and a special doa and munajat was offered for the salvation of his departed soul.
The discussion session on Sheikh Kamal was attended by select members of Bangladesh expatriate community along with the officials of the High Commission. The speakers focused on Sheikh Kamal’s organizational skill, creativity, cultural patronage as well as sportsmanship beyond his political identity. They paid rich tribute to him for his visionary role in the birth of Abahoni Krira Chokro and many other cultural entities. The High Commissioner cited Sheikh Kamal as the Champion for his rare leadership traits and relentless efforts to open minds of the youth through extracurricular interventions. Calling him a comet he narrated how Sheikh Kamal in a very short span could enlighten his surroundings.
A video on life and works of Sheikh Kamal with the reflection of his contemporary personalities about him was played before the discussion session. Following the local restrictions the program was attended by the participants wearing masks and maintaining social distancing of 1.5 meter.
